Beautiful Baby Girl quilt

A customer asked me to make a quilt for her sister who is pregnant, when we were walking thru the fabric store, she stopped and looked up at a quilt and said, "I would like something like that for my sister in those kinds of colors"..... So i went online and found an AWESOME deal for 40 precut 5 inch squares of patchwork fabric....As i was shopping in a store, i came across the backing and sashing....I purchased 4 yards of it without showing the customer ...I came home and she loved it, turns out her sister spent some time in France, and some of the sayings on the back were in French...so it was a hit :-)

It really came out cute - she wanted the baby's name on it somewhere and she would cover it up so no one at the shower saw the name (the parents are keeping it a surprise)... so in the top left corner on the back, i embroidered a heart with the baby's name in it.  The shower was this past Sunday, so i couldn't post any pics of it until that was over...I got a message from the Mom-to-be, that she loved it :-)

Here are a few pictures, i blurred out the baby's name so still only the "parents-to-be" and her sister, know it :-)

What can you do with a washcloth?

I saw this idea from a friends FB page, but i added some embellishments to it to make it my own :-)

This is an awesome idea - You take a simple store bought washcloth and turn it a personal travel companion...This one in particulars is geared towards kids, but you could certainly use it in Guest Rooms with the persons who is staying initials and make it personal that way...Or simply leave it blank.  I put a toothbrush, deod., q-tips, and toothpaste in it...  it came out VERY cute.

Applique and Embroidered Shirts

Good morning - I've been very busy lately, As another "Holiday" approaches,  (more like the Holy day for us Irish Folks LOL), I have been seeing alot of Green in the stores....  I as i picked up 2 shirts to put in my cart, I realized - I'm sure 100000 other little kids are going to be wearing the same shirts...    If it is one thing i am learning, is that I am "unique" LOL)...I don't want  my girls to look like all the other kids.... Here is what i did.....

I picked up 2 plain white shirts for $3.99 a piece, went home,  Looked for some design on the internet ( I am a frequent shopper at Emboidery-boutique.com (Hoping that is it) had some left over Irish fabric from a few quilts I made...and the idea was born.  I embroidered Towels a few weeks ago, why not do it on clothes...   My girls went to school today wearing something I created and i can promise that no one else will have the shirts they do.

Have a great  Friday everyone!!!!

This is the shirts i picked up...just ordinary white plain shirts.

After the design got put on...LOVE how it came out!

This is how my girls went to school today :-)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!

I am skipping my Valentine's day craft today cause i am fighting a head cold, so i am posting pictures of the "finished" towels.  This was my very first time doing "Embroidered Applique" and I have to say, I'm in love with how it came out (Emily's Y came out alittle to far over, but for my first time, It's awesome) ...I have the matching hand-towels and wash cloths for these (but they are not done yet)...  I also planned on putting cute little embroidered applique designs on them as well..but I like them as they are.    I purchased the font at  a new favorite website of mine called http://www.embroidery-boutique.com/  I can see myself getting alot more from them as the days follow :-)

These are going to be great for house-warming gifts, baby gifts, summer beach towels, Clothes...you name it...the sky is the limit with these.  I have some other towels and such that I will be able get to and post about shortly.

Anyway...Enjoy your day and hopefully everyone will find some time to spend with their loved ones :-)

Do i have a favorite quilt that i have made???

Good afternoon everyone, someone recently asked me if out of all the quilts i have made...Do I have a favorite one???...Simple answer is YES i do.  The quilt i am posting was made close to a year ago...I have since named it "Lets meet half way"  This quilt type is known as a French Braid... I saw one in a magazine, now anyone who knows me, knows, that when i see something i truly love,  OCD kicks in and I HAVE to figure out how to make one for myself and I will not rest until it is done.... Well that is what i did.  I went to my most favorite quilt shop in Clinton NJ called Kindred Quilts....Picked up 14 or 15 different Batik color coordinated fabrics (batik fabric is generally hand dyed fabric from Bali) There is no other fabric like it on earth, I don't use it often, but when i do, either two kinds of quilts come to mind, a Bargello and a French Braid (i'll show you a Bargello at a later time)  So I came home was determined to make this thing...I did, and I made it big.

There was no future home planned for it when i made this beauty.. I made it..well...just to see how it would turn out. You know what...I'm in love...I couldn't possibly use it, i just sometimes just stare at it and run my hand across the beautiful batik fabric.  It was an expensive quilt to make and I just can't let it go.  I actually get sad, because i so desperately want this quilt to have a good home and to be used and seen and admired...but here is sits, folded up.  It's my favorite and it's clear i have issues LOL.

Anyway, here are some pictures of it...the pictures are as follows: when the top was first started, and then got completed (reminds me of a stained class window in this picture), then another picture is of the back put on and quilted, and the final picture  is of it hanging at a quilt show over the summer...Honestly -  i could have started at it forever at the show.

Issues...who me??? LOL

Have a great day everyone!!!

I've been asked about a "sports theme" quilt

Now i am a die hard Rangers Fan and Nascar (Tony stewart), fan, but other sports...not so  much.  I was asked to make a "man" quilt for her husband who loves Football (Giants), Hockey (devils) and Baseball (mets).... Those were my choices.  Being how it is SUPER BOWL weekend...I chose to make a "Giants" quilt  to see what she thought.  Well she LOVES IT.  The colors will be "tweaked" alittle and some other things are going to be added, but this is the basic design.  Off to work up a quote and hopefully if they agree...get it started this weekend!!!

Thanks for looking...Have a great day!!!!

The Celtic Quilt is done and shipped

I've been frantically getting a quilt done for a customer who wanted this quilt for his mom's upcoming birthday....This was a quilt that i have never made before and was such an awesome challenge.  Lots of little pieces and it came together beautifully.  We even added some embroidery as a little something "extra" We started with his mothers name and then he decided he would like her grandchildren's names on it as well.  As you can see, it made quite the difference on the quilt..

If someone asks about a quilt and has a design in their mind, it will do it and help you achieve what your vision is...My goal is to help get what they see in their mind.

I took several pics of the quilt and closeups of the embroidering.

Have a great day everyone and Thanks for stopping by!!!"

My Oldest Daughter turned 8 last week and her gift was....

For my daughters 8th birthday we decided to give her a "big girl" room... we repainted the room with the colors she wanted (i'm shocked to say how much i love it)...Now we didn't just let her loose in the paint store...what i did was took her to Joann fabrics and let her pick her most favorite fabric that she loved....those are the colors that we painted her room...

To add to her painting the room, my awesome husband is going to make her a beautiful captains bed and shelves and a new desk area...I am going to be doing all the quilts, pillows, blankets, curtains etc.  If it's fabric....I'm making it LOL...

Anyway, she wanted to be apart of the design of her quilt...so we sat her down with us at Quilt Pro last night and came up with something she loves with her fabric she picked.

This is the drawing of her quilt. (which since today is a snow day - I will get most of it cut and start sewing today hopefully) She picked this design because they look like "Puppy bones)

I hope everyone has a great day!!!!  It's our "first" major snow day this winter.

Crochet anyone????

I saw a few pictures of beautiful afghans in a catalog that was mailed to me....and I knew right then and there that this is something I MUST learn to do... My good friend Liz is going to teach me how to Crochet....I think somewhere down the line, I must have developed OCD...There is a Afghan that i HAVE to make and I will not stop until i do it.

Here are a few pictures of a (few I would like to accomplish)

The 1st and 3rd picture are the ones I MUST do, however I think the 2nd  might be easier to learn with...I sent these pictures to my friend and I am anxiously waiting to see if she thinks any can be done by me as a first crochet afghan...WISH ME LUCK!!!

( I would love to give credit to those who made the beautiful  creations, but i have no idea who made them)

Nothing says Happy Birthday, than a gift that was custom made just for you.

Good Morning  - I was asked to create a quilt for a client who's mom has a birthday coming up, His words were "nothing major"...then one night i guess he couldn't sleep and he decided to look at quilt pictures online...Next morning I get an email asking if I can make a Celtic Quilt for her?  After going back and fourth and him showing me some of the pictures he found... We came up with a plan.... This is the design I came up with for his mom.  Can't wait to start this project... This quilt top has over 350 pieces in it and I can already tell, It will be one of my most favorites to date.  When the top is all done, i will also embroider a birthday message to his mom from him....I can guarantee, she will cherish this for years and years to come!!! -  Kimberly  (I created the design below with Quilt Pro)

Made with Love to a Teacher from her Students

A client asked me to create something "magical" as a going away gift (the teacher is expecting her first child and decided to stay at home)... After meeting with the parents and getting a general idea what they wanted, The above drawing is what i came up with. I put Freezer paper on the back of Muslin and drew a "outline" of where the students could draw to (so they wouldn't go outside the lines), and sent them to school...The kids all created magic on their ind. blocks (alot of those kids really have talent), then brought them home and heat set each one....Took one of the moms to the fabric store and used the drawing as a quide to pick out fabrics. The following pictures are how it turned out before giving it to the teacher. I received a thank you from one of the moms and how nice it was to see all the kids excited to point out the indiv. blocks to the teacher when the presented it to her on her last day.

A New Year - becomes a new me

Welcome to my blog... Today is January 17th, a little over a month ago, I launched my business, I haven't created a website yet, but i have put it on Facebook ( I will have to figure out how to link this and my FB page.)  I have been creating Quilts for people for about a year, and over and over i hear, do you have a card???  You should start a business....so here we are :-)

I am going to post a bunch of pictures of most of my quilts and other things that i have done for clients...Please feel free to take a look and leave a post or 2 and hopefully i will be able to post patterns and quilts on here for sale (still in the learning process of blogs)  Anything you see can be re-created to fit your liking, colors, size, style etc....  That is the best thing about my business, most of what I do, is custom.  People ask for prices all the time...truth is, it all depends on what exactly you want me to create for you.  Have a great day!!!
